Bountiful Harvest!

It’s that time of the year again when we start thinking about all the wonderful “harvests” that we have in our lives and on our tables.

With this beautiful weather, clear skies, warm days, the last of my vegetable garden is being cooked up into tomato sauce and  frozen veggies and  its with mixed feelings that I await the coming stormy days when the vegetables will come from my home canned stock.  Of course the thought of canning from those 20 tomato plants, the hot summer afternoons and the even hotter boiling pots of water, will just be a distant memory until next year…whew. It’s a lot of work!

The Thanks giving holiday will be upon us shortly and I’m already setting my table with fall colors, pumpkins and the remaining abundant roses from the formal rose garden at my home in Bishop! (You’ll see my table in the photo shoot that we just did for M.T.)

After the rush of summer with all the coming and going, traveling, hiking, biking and water activities its nice to take a break and prepare for the coming fall and winter season.

I feel a time to slow the hurried thoughts down and reflect on the past summer and this year and recount the pleasures and the challenges.

This year was defiantly much more challenging than others in recent memory with the slower economy, personal issues and family health matters.  This time however has brought to the forefront a sense of strength in faith and in reaching out to others who brought wisdom to me when my own fortitude was wavering.  I asked Dave Mc Coy a few months ago “what did you do when there were difficult issues at hand?” his reply “don’t sit and worry about it, worrying is just a waste of time”.  So simple.  I guess those words of wisdom gave me hope when I felt some weakness in the face of many fears.

So, off to face the everyday living with an appreciation of all the gifts that I have been given and try a little more effectively to make progress in my day to day life and guess what…it all comes together in brilliant harmony!

The abundance that is all of ours, in the place we live, the beautiful weather, the safety of our small town environment and some fantastic friends to share all this with, gives me wings to fly on.

This year, even though it’s been hard, I feel more alive with the friends that I have the new work that has come my way, incredible new clients with fantastic homes and their trust in our ability to create beautiful homes for them. It  gives me the joy that a more affluent time could not measure up to.

My abundant harvest comes from enjoying a special garden, filled with flowers and exquisite food.  Sharing these things with dear friends as I cook and prepare the table to serve those who visit my home.  A true joy that could not be found from other endeavors or adventures.

This holiday season, with friends near and dear, I express my gratitude to those who have made my year a blessed one.

I find this simple act of sharing a meal with those who come to my table one of the most joyous and rewarding gifts that I have been given.  Please enjoy the photos and design of our three table settings that were designed by Noel knower, (large table with abundant centerpieces and dish wear in orange and rust tones) Julie Johnson- Holland (Simple, clean design with ceramic Pumpkins and candle holders) and Robin Stater, (Rose floral centerpiece, classic style, white place settings).  All ready for the holiday feast!

Mammoth Lakes brings together, at this time of the year a group of home town locals and second home owners who may or may not have a ski holiday, but who love to come up to the mountains and enjoy a sometimes quite weekend with their families.  Mammoth has always brought together large and small families who enjoy spending this peaceful time together.

I hope that your Thanksgiving holiday will be one of happiness and gratitude for all of your gifts, family and friends.
